FARIAD is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization established and legally registered under the companies? code of Ghana in May 2002. It is also registered with the department of Social Welfare and Employment to undertake a wide range social and economic development activities aimed at alleviating hardships and vulnerability among marginalized and disadvantaged groups in society.
Fair River International Association for Development is also affiliated to organizations such as Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organizations in development (GAPVOD), an umbrella organization for NGOs in Ghana, NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child, Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), Population Association of Ghana (PAG), Reproductive Health NGOs, Coalition of NGOs Advocating for Universal Access to Anti Retroviral Treatment (UCAART), Health NGOs, Millennium Development Goal Youth Network (MDGYNW), FAO Education For Rural People ?(ERP) Flagship Partners, Country Focal Point for Aids Care Watch headquartered in Thailand, among others.
Description of activities:
FARIAD is into major activities such as Health Issues including HIV/AIDS, Sexual Reproductive Health, Tuberculosis etc., Agriculture/Food Security, Micro-Finance, Financial Management, Education, Human Rights, Environment and Natural Resource Management, Income Generation, Rural Development Information Technology etc.
FARAID has over the years executed projects in the areas of child labour and trafficking, HIV/AIDS prevention, gender and development, environment including hygiene education, income generating activities for women. FARIAD in partnership with the National Tuberculosis Control Program of the Ghana Health Service undertake sensitization Communication and Information Dissemination on Tuberculosis (TB).
FARIAD presently is collaborating with Youth Incentives of The Rutgers Nisso Groep of The Netherlands to train 20 youth leaders, teachers, youth advocates, etc. on Sexuality Rights and Youth Services among other issues concerning Sexual Reproductive Health of the youth. These were successfully implemented through advocacy, education, service provision, capacity building and institutional linkages with relevant organizations (governmental and non-governmental).
