Association Sénégalaise de Recherches, d'Etude et d'Appui au Développement (ASREAD)

Mission:
The ASREAD mission is to establish partnerships with people at the grassroots level and to help them help themselves.
The key elements of that partnership are:

1. We help people implement their activities or start a new activity chosen by them. Without their participation in all the project cycles, it is not possible to succeed.
2. Our partnership is based upon trust, complementing each other and mutual respect.
3. We give priority to the most needy people, mainly to women and youth groups.
4. We are committed to better management of natural resources through all the projects we support.
5. We rely heavily on training to ensure that the populations we support will be able to take over our projects and sustain them over the long term.

Description of activities:
Over the past 16 years, ASREAD has developed and implemented a series of medium-term agricultural projects, all targeted at either women or young adults, and one longer-term program focused on integrated environmental protection for the entire Keur Momar Sarr region. In addition, ASREAD started its own microcredit-granting capability.
